JCH Residential at Fort Purbrook

24th – 27th April 2018

Another successful residential took place in April for some of the students in Jo Collett House. A fun filled, four days with 9 students staying for the full duration while and a further group of students joined for a day of activities . The residential started off with a trip to Chichester for some indoor bowling followed by lunch in a restaurant.   We then made our way to the Peter Ashley Centre at Fort Purbrook which would become our home for the next few days. The students had fun finding their rooms and unpacking their cases.
A new activity that we tried this year was Air Rifle Shooting. The students soon got the hang of eyeing up the target and many ‘bullseyes’ were evident! Another new activity was Laser Tag. The students had great fun defending members of their team and working collaboratively to take out their opponents. Other activities on the residential included rock climbing, archery, bush craft art and bush craft cooking.
With our own personal chef for the week it is safe to say we ate like kings and queens for our time away!On the last day bags were packed and farewell was said to the Fort. We then had one last activity to look forward to, a trip to the top of The Spinnaker Tower. We had good weather and the views from the top were amazing. All of the students took on the challenge of walking on the glass floor and watching life go on under their feet.
It really was a fantastic residential and the students were a credit to themselves, taking on and persevering with new challenges set out before them. A huge thank you to everyone that came and making it a residential to remember!
